The unmitigated cheek of Mr. Madrigal is worthy of a certtin Find of admiration considering, that he is the owner of
the S.S. "Rio Pasig" which took out the first cargo of coal to
the enemy, but was caught on the way and is now a prize of war
in Hongkong; that it is he who diverted the deliveries of coal fi
from the bona fide consumers with whom he had contracts; that his
firm has been the sole and only seller of coal to the enemy; and
that it is to his manipulations that we are indebted for the lo98
of the ships recently sunk by the German cruiser "Enden" in her
raids into the Bengal Sea. This cruiser was in the Yellow Sea of
Japan on the 10th of August, and on the 10th of September she mad
her first raid in the Bengal Sea: and there is no doubt that
during the month she was not heard from, she obtained a fresh sup
ply of coal from one of the steamers despatched from Manila.
